We Zoo what we Zoo!
Good morning!! (well it's morning here & pretty good so 100% accuracy at time of print!)
How are you? How have you been?
What's your favourite colour jelly and why? (Red, it looks so refreshing!)
We went to Pretoria Zoo! Which is not the 1 we were all but colonizing during the holidays, see us shake it up a bit! I'll show you more photos as we scroll down together, but I would so pity da' fool who didn't start their weekly letter with a picture of a sleeping Capybara!
CUTENESS!!!!
You can thank me later! 👍
I have to show you the Cloud Photo of the Week!
This was on Saturday and isn't it luminous?!
Funny how city & sky can go so well together, considering how different they are?
But for the rest of the day the GINORMOUSLY HOT DAY STAR burned off most of the clouds and shone down, down, DOWN, roasting us to a succulent ruby-red! (not as pretty as red jelly 😥)
Can't you just FEEL the HEAT from this photo radiating outward?
Back to the Zoo we go!
Aren't these horns stupendous?! Whatever type of super strong neck muscles must he have to cart those about so easily? What a pity goat riding isn't a thing, he already comes with built in handles!
A Hippy-Potty-Mouth!
I had to wait forever for him to break the surface of the water for a nostril filling!!
Interesting facts about hippos:
1. They can run faster than a human can. That includes Usain bolt.
2. Hippos are only 2% fat (A human below 5% fat is what we all an emaciated corpse), the rest, brain-bogglingly enough, is muscle! They are mad strong!
Underestimating them is 1 of the reasons they are the most dangerous land mammal in the world...
Now you know!
Which is funny as this chap is really more of what you'd think would be the deadliest thing out there but, in comparison, he's just a slightly over exaggerated puddy-tat!
Still, isn't he gorgeous?! It's nice there is no limit to being able to admire different animals for different reasons!
While the animals, at least the few that were there, did seem to be well cared for, we did notice that a lot of the cages and tanks were empty, including the jellyfish tank! I came all the way to see jellyfish and jellyfish there weren't!
*sad jellyfish denied noises*
A lot of places had an almost Gothic air of neglect to them!
Gasp! Even the cable carts were locked up and dusty and forgotten?!
This is the pathway up to the carts and it was fantastically overgrown with weeds.
We saw a HUGE amount of butterflies walking up it!
Still why ever do you think such a once popular place has fallen to such signs of disrepair?
But, moving on to another sign:
2 geese sitting on a sign just enjoying their own little holiday above it...

And lastly a bit of a sign of not thinking too hard about the layout of your advert...

Actually speaking of signs, isn't it funny to only be able to see the back of a sign?
I have absolutely no idea what this is advertising! I do suspect the large extra black bit might be someone's head, but for now... another mystery!
In other news
My chair has been kidnapped, someone moved it over the weekend and I don't remember what it looked like well enough to pick it out of it's near clones here, I found 1 that works nicely, but still...farewell chair, I hope, wherever you are, you have a nice bottom on top of you!!
I received a friendly, generated spam mail wishing me, and 63 other employees, a Happy Birthday this month. I think cash would have felt more thoughtful...
Bren went for a swim on Saturday by basically just flopping into the pool with all his clothing, and a smile, on! I decided to sit in the shallow end and play with the mosquitoes!
He also managed to fix a little fan that was being troublesome, we are most impressed!!!
There was load shedding on Saturday (scheduled power outages throughout the day) but luckily it stopped on Sunday.
It felt like a warning...
I put all the links to my blogs on the left-side bar of this blog page, so easy-peasy access and no worries about saving them! (also if they change? Meh, who worries? Not you!)
And so we go into February, hottest month of the year!
Let's go in with good cheer, ice-cold drinkables and determination!
From the couple who know where all the best shady spots are (the natural sort, not the dodgy, "hey kid you wanna buy some drugz?" kind)
